The Valley of the Jordan (Means: to Descend) is a very prosperous agricultural region called in Arabic AI-Ghor (meaning the Rift). It is geographically part of the Great Rift Valley. This is where Lot chose to live due to its luscious gardens (Genesis 13:lO-11).

-It was also sometimes just called “the valley” (Genesis 19: 17-29); (Deut. 3: 16, 4:43-49); (Joshua 13:27).

-It was also referred to as the “plains of Moab” (Numbers 22:1, 26:3-63, 31 :12, 33:48-50, 35:1, 36:13); (Deuteronomy 34:l-8); (Joshua 13:32),

-“The tableland” (Deuteronomy 3:l O), -“The lowland” (Jeremiah 32:44 -King James: the valley) and “the plain of the Jordan” (Deuteronomy 3:10 KJV); (I Kings 7:46); (I1 Chronicles 4:17).
